The past two days Caleb has been sleeping alot more because hes been sick with a runny nose, small cough and some sneezing. yesterday he was up at 7am and asleep by 9.30am (he usually goes till 10.45-11am before needing a nap) and slept an hour and a half. again in the afternoon, only around 3.5 hours A time and another hour and a half sleep. I was worried he would be up all night after having 3 hours daysleep as he usually only has 2-2.5 hours but he slept straight through from 8pm till 7am. Now its 11.30am and we have attempted to put him to sleep three or four times. The first time at 9.30ish (after giving him baby nurofen) becuase yesterday thats what time he fell asleep and he looked tired too, rubbing eyes, red eyes, moaning etc, NOPE, he screamed blue murder, no amount of patting would work so we thought "ok, he must be feeling a bit better and isnt ready for bed" as his nose isnt as runny, no coughing or sneezing today, so we kept him up, he started moaning and grizzling around 10.30 so we attempted to put him to bed, more crying with patting until 11am when i said "stuff it lets go for a drive" he fell asleep within two minutes, got him home, took him to his room and the crying began, held him and rocked him a little and he fell asleep on me, then five minutes later more crying so decided to try patting in his bed again, nope, hasnt worked, so now im confused, i mean really confused. im not sure what i did wrong. we are going out at 1pm so he will probably fall asleep in the car then but its a long day on so little sleep especially when he is sick. however hes playing happily in the lounge right now *sigh*

what do i do? and what do you think i did wrong? we havent had a day like this since he was really really little, like 5/6 months old.

Hey sweetie,
I don't think you have done anything wrong, I just think you have a little man who isn't feeling well and wants more cuddles and comfort than usual.  I know when our LO gets sick he often sleeps more, but is much harder to get down even if he doesn't have a lot of other cold/flu symptoms...

It really does take a little bit of time to get back on track.  Keep an eye on his ears (he may be coming in with an ear infection) and throat (tonsillitis), keep an eye on his temperature and otherwise just APOP until he is feeling better....Well that's what I do anyway.  Sometimes it does take a little time to get back on track, but you can't start until you are sure they are on the mend.

Hope your little man feels better soon and Hugs to you

Hiya, just wanted to drop off some hugs, I'm in exactly same boat at the moment, and getting thru it anyway that I can to be honest, mainly by APOPing. I keep trying to put him down in his cot for naps but as soon as he's being lowered his little eyes pop open and he looks at me as if to say 'mum, don't you dare'  Grin so lots of cuddles and napping in arms at mo. You're certainly not doing anything wrong, I think the LO's just want their mummys/daddys when feeling off. I'm just going to keep trying his usual routine and hopefully when he's feeling up to it will drop back into it, until then its going to be drives in car, walks in pram and sleeping in my arms (at least I'll have good excuse not to do the housework) Roll Eyes Cheesy

Hope he feels better soon  xx
