Vari flow teats
« on: May 21, 2010, 09:03:14 am »

Has anyone found that using these helps your lo take more milk?? Have just bought some to try at the next feed to see if I can increase his feed from 3oz to 4/5 as when he has 3 he barely makes the 3 hours sometimes wants more after just 2.

Never personally used them myself as DS wouldn't take to them for some reasin so maybe someine with more experience can chime in. BUt yes in theory they should help your LO take more milk as it allows them to take it as their own pace iyswim. They can take a bit of getting used to though so try and persevere.

 How old is your LO?

What size teat are you currently using? The variflow teats do go quite fast for a bub of that age in my opinion.

We use the slow flow. Just tried veri flow an he managed nearly 5oz only a little coming out. Going to monitor it for a few more feeds and see if he is able to go longer now. He also did a nice big burp quite quickly which he never normaly does it's normaly a mission to wind him

We use variflow teats - they are good! We used the tommee tippee closer to nature with DD at first but from about 6 months used the Avent variflow to get her to take more milk (she is on reflux formula).

I do find the Avent teats an awful lot faster than the TT. They also work in a slightly different way, TT baby just sucks but the Avent have marks around the teat and you turn it to get different settings.

Glad you had a better feed - hope it continues for you!
