hi there,

When this happened with my LO, I always would give him at least 10 minutes to see if he could get himself back to sleep.  This is where you can discern if your LO is mantra crying, or the "I need you now" cry.  If the latter, then definitely go in right away.  Otherwise, you could try to see if she can sort it out on her own.

Also, when my LO would wake crying it was often an indication that he was OT for the nap and I needed to scale back a bit on the A times.

My 5 month old lo sometimes wakes up early and does a mantra cry for 5 mins and settles back down. If after 5 mins she is crying still then I've learnt that this is probably the end of the nap. It's funny how it's changed over time because at one point I could settle her back down again. I find now that if I go in I seem to disturb her more.

I've been doing BW for about 2 months now and things have evolved - plus I can now recognise my lo's different cries. I now realise that having her crying for a bit is not at all bad when it's her mantra cry. It took me ages to recognise this cry though! I look back and I must have been waking her up by going in her room when it wasn't needed. I know hover outside her door for 5 mins and more often than not her cry will fizzle out.

Good luck with things!

Same here.  (Sometimes their A times might need slightly reducing if they are teething/had a bad night). If it happens again you could try and APOP her back to sleep to extend the nap?  Although if you think she is mantra crying then obviously leave her to it for a few minutes - I think this is just trial and error to figure out what works best for your lo though

Going to lock and link this thread as there is basically the same question over in night wakings.  Any tips and hints used there will more than likely filter over to naps. Cheesy

Any more tips and hints can be put onto this thread ...Do I go in immediately when my 7 month old wakes during the night & is crying?  Kiss
