Weeping eyes in 6 month ols
« on: December 03, 2010, 07:02:27 am »
Hi all

I'm not too sure if this is the correct place to post this so feel free to move if needed.

My DS has just turned 26 weeks and has a really bad cold. His nose is runny and he has a bit of a cough. He seems to be coping fine and is managing to sleep, although he is restless throughout the night.

The problem are his eyes. They are weeping and are all horrid and stuck together! I put some Vaseline on them last night but I'm not sure if it stopped his lids sticking. Anyway, as is usual I got straight on the Internet and a few sites/people have said put a couple of drops of breastmilk in a babies eyes if they are weeping!  Has anyone else heard/done this and if so, did it work?  The antibodies in the breastmilk are meant to clear the yackiness out.

Thanks
Debi xxx

Sounds like conjunctivitis to me - a little eye infection. DS#1 had it when he was a baby.
Best probably to pop him by the Doctor's and he'll give him some eye drops that will clear it up in no time.
It's very contagious so no sharing towels and lots of hand washing!!!
Hope this helps

Thanks. Took him to docs & got some drops. Hopefully it'll clear up soon as we are off on holiday on Monday!
