Success story :)
« on: February 10, 2012, 05:21:02 AM »
So... DD has had a wicked cold for a few solids days but is on the mend... I had to AP to sleep for naps and BT while she was sick... she was waking staying awake with a stuffy nose during the night - one night for 2 hrs and another one was 3 hrs!  UGH!  I had taken her to our bed so I could at least rest while she dozed on my chest semi-upright so she could breathe better...

I thought we would be stuck in AP hell for a while... not so much!

I felt that she was well enough yesterday to get back to it... put her down as I normally would after her BT bottle with a quick snuggle and a kiss... Told her I loved her and left the room... just got out the door and she started to cry... in to her room right away and she was easily settled with a bit of patting and verbal reassurance... out again and she STTN 10 hrs (still not 100% well, but HUGE improvement over 8 hrs of broken sleep the previous 2 nights!).

I did AP for her nap today as she is still rather tired from the shorter night... but she went down easily and slept for 2.5 hrs :)

Bedtime tonight only needed a quick walk in and verbal shush with a firm hand and she went to sleep.  Fingers crossed that she manages to STTN again and we get a bit more than 10 hrs :)

SO happy A is better now Kara :-*
And even more happy she is BOT so quick. I also heart BW and find now as Z is getting older if he isnt sick for too long (ie weeks) he seems to 'want' to go back to sleeping on his own.

Its really the best isn't it? I love this philosophy and hearing the success stories. Especially when knowing the mama is working so hard and the success is such a great reward.

Well.done Kara :)

We are currently sleep-training and your success story encourages me because I know that when illnesses/dev milestones or whatever come up, DS will already have learned how to sleep independently and it is just a matter of re-training him again :)
