Soooooooooo. Back here then.  :P

OK, so after many docs visits and many illnesses we have been tackling sleep full throttle for 3 weeks now. Wee Dylan was partial to a bit of a cuddle in the bed. That and being picked up at NW. Which are, by the way.....VERY frequent and VERY lengthy.

So 3 weeks in. No change. She has not been in the bed once and she still wakes every single night. Every night we WI/WO for anything up to 3 hours. Every so often she pulls a sttn but thats only about once a week.

No other props and sleeps fully independantly for naps and bedtime. The WU times vary although if she wakes premidnight she can usually be settled fairly easily and quickly. If its after then its a marathon.

 Routine - WU - 6/7
              nap - 12/12.30-1.30/2
              BT - 7ish

For 3 days a week she has only a 45 min nap as she is in nursery and thats all she'll sleep. Meds or no meds dont make a difference. SHe is on antihistamines for her skin and I have even tried not giving them at BT and giving them in the MOTN instead and although they will make her sleep she still wont sleep.

Am I missing something? We are very tired.  :'(

Have you tried an early bedtime? I always found them magic and after a 45 min nap she probably needs a shorter A, I know L would have. Those super long wakings always meant OT for us. Hope it gets better soon  :-*

The antihistamines could be to blame.  We had an antihistamine for a week for a chornic mucous cough and DD could fall asleep but kept waking seemingly wired and we could only get a max 1hour15nap too!  I stopped giving the AH as the cough was easier to deal with!   I tried giving it in the morning too but no change.  -S  I am very sensitive to them too and get really severe insomnia even with just piriton!

Her day is far too long for that short nap so could be some OT here.  On nursery days I would PD earlier.

In comparison here is our routine at 18months after a bit of a sleep needs drop -

WU 6.30/7
Nap 12/12.30 for 2hours15mins (wakes herself)
BT 7.15ish

On days where she was at my Mums and was sleeping less than an hour I'd PD at 6pm regardless of the time of the nap as I knew she was OT which worked for us as she started to tack on a bit 12.5-13hours on these days.

Hi Emma,

(HUGS) Hun,  :P tricky time for you. Recently I helped a BW with similar things going on and nursery tried napping her LO in a different place which worked like a dream, just a thought for those days. Have you tried her nap earlier  ??? maybe even just for the interim  ???

Bless you, those long NW are incredibly hard to bear, you just lose the will soooooooooooooo fast.

YOU JUST WANT YOUR BED  :'(

Ugh hugs hun.

How is her skin at the minute? Is she waking when the meds are wearing off do you think?

hugs hun, does sound like there is discomfort of some sort there. I was also going to ask about her skin.

I also think like katt - if she will tack I would do an early bedtime and just see if it helps.

so sorry you are going through this xx

Some nights we do an early BT of like 6pm. Asleep for 6 on the dot. Sometimes it makes a difference and sometimes not. This is the thing, there is no pattern to it and I'm driving myself mad trying to find one kwim?

There must, must, must be an element of discomfort. The nap length varies too. SOmetimes 2 hours but we have been trying more recently to cap at 1 hour 10 thinking we were robbing from nightsleep.

I just dont know where to go from here really. Her skin has no marks really but she is still ITCHY. CLawing herself givin half the chance. We are awaiting a pead appt coming through for further allergy testing.

Stupid question Emma, but do you think that D has hit the 18 month regression at the tail end of her illness??  It can last 6-8 weeks and you seriously wonder if LO will ever sleep again!

Loads of hugs hun!
