What time would you have made BT this evening?
« on: June 14, 2012, 19:28:13 PM »
DS is OT (what's new, eh?!  ::) ). He was quite poorly a few weeks ago and hasn't yet got back on track. It's not as bad as it was, but we're getting NTs again  :(

The last few nights he's had NT's but WU has been usual time (6am ish) and BT has been the earliest I could manage (generally 6.15pm ish - although ideally would have been 6pm very latest).

This morning he woke later - 7.15am, but had had a bad night (he does tend to sleep in a bit if he's been up a lot in the night. So what would you have done for BT?

I think he could have done with a nap, but generally when WU is later I struggle to get a nap out of him, and if I do it needs to be later and means BT is a nightmare. Anyhow, he will only nap in the car and DH had that today so a nap wasn't an option in the end anyway.

I generally tend to aim for usual BT (I aim for 11.5hrs from waking) when we get a later WU as even though he was up later it was due to him having a bad night, and I know he's OT, however *usually* he takes a while to go to sleep so I've always thought he was UT at BT because of the later WU and really I should have pushed BT later.

Well, I think I've been getting this all wrong and when we have a later WU due to a bad night he's still OT and actually needs an earlier night despite the later WU  :-\  He had an early bath this afternoon (we were bored so spent an hour in the bath playing :) ) so was ready for bed early, and also had a slightly early dinner, and he seemed 'sleepy' at 4.30/5pm. He then came to life just before he got into bed at 5.30pm  ::) I was really worried then that I'd missed the window and should have put him to bed by 5pm - would you have gone this early?

He actually fell asleep near enough straight away (was asleep by 5.45pm) but we've had NT's already :(

I would and these days i am not afraid to do EBT!  I tried to fit in a nap or Ds fell asleep in the car and BT was drama because i didnt dare to put him down late like 9 for fear that it would go on till 10 or even later.  The night would be short and even EW, the next day with EBT, around 5:30 and i got 13h last week.  But the next day was really challenging to say the least.

I wouldn't have gone as early as 5pm but would have done 6 at the latest. H has been in bed for 5.30 a few times, usually because she has fallen asleep in the car and we couldn't wake her up ::).  I would stick with the earliest bedtime you can do for a good while and see if it helps even if the wake up gets a bit later.

{{HUGS}} hope tonight isn't too bad for you both.

Laura

I would have done 5.30. But I would think 5.45 would be ok.
I do find set bt with perhaps a little earlier would be ok.

Horrible NTs and spent the rest of the night in bed with DH (I was working from 10pm). Woke at 5.30am :(

He's with my sister today and I praying he'll nap as she's taking him swimming and BT wont happen til at least 6pm as I'm in work....so he's going to be shattered :(

Goodness knows....you're even further into this than we are with no end in sight :(

My sister sent her OH out with the dog and her DS, in the rain, last night at 7pm to burn off some energy as her DS (3.5yrs) just will not go to bed and is up till about 9pm most nights. She's 'lucky' in that late nights only lead to early mornings rather than any NWings (plus a grumpy child by late afternoon), but *swears* that he'd never go to bed any earlier when I've suggested EBT for him.

These toddlers are HARD WORK!!!

He's pretty much Angel/Textbook with regards to behaviour etc, but when it comes to sleep he's Touchy with a bit of Spirited thrown in just for fun! ;)

I don't know - I found 1yr old sleep easier I think. I don't think he was *quite* so stubborn when it came to sleep then! But then again, perhaps I'm just not remembering accurately - you're experiencing both so are in a better place to judge! Not that you'd say you were in a better place I'm sure....  :(

Yes,but I don't know why!

He fell asleep in the car at 5.55pm, which was great (I get him ready for bed at my sister's as we have a 1.5hr journey home) as we hadn't been in the car very long (this was the earliest I could get going). We had a few occassions throughout the evening where he started to cry and I thought a NT was on it's way, but before I knew it he had settled back to sleep - didn't need to go into him at all. He slept til 5.55am - so 12 hours.

After having such awful nights, an early start, and a busy day I was expecting last night to be horrendous! He's not making any sense

Anyway, I'm not complaining, hopefully the good sleep has done him some good. Will be getting him into bed soon after 5.30pm tonight.

How's things for you?
