6 week old using dummy to sleep
« on: June 24, 2012, 20:58:04 PM »
Hi

We have a six week old and started EASY. First two days went like a dream now we are havin trouble with the sleep. She gets very agitated very quickly so we introduced a dummy however when it falls out she is unable to self soothe so we pick her up and sssh pat, when this has no success we pop the dummy in, she goes down starts to drift off then dummy falls out and we start all over again. She seems to have reflux as well!  Love her to pieces but at a loss already!!!!

we used a dummy very early on too.have you tried just using it to soothe her & taking it out before she actually falls asleep?we used to do that with our LO when she was too small to self-soothe (she is now ADDICTED to sucking her fingers!!!!no more dummy-her choice!) if she was crying (& in need of sucking) we would give her the dummy, but would take it out once she calmed abit but before she was falling asleep.it worked for us, but then we didn't have reflux issues, so maybe that would change things?

A dummy does seem to help LOs with reflux.  If your LO needs the dummy to settle at this young age I'd let her have it.  Certainly remove it once she is nearly sleeping if you can.

Where are you with getting the reflux sorted?  Does she sleep better on an incline?
