Short naps!!!! Tried more A time and less A time.. At a LOSS!
« on: August 29, 2014, 21:50:53 pm »
So my 16 almost 17 week old keeps taking 35-45 minute naps. I've tried extending his A time and lessening it. I don't really know how to do it or what I should be looking for. There have been a few fluke days where he'll throw in a long nap and so I've tried to figure out what the similarities were on those days but can't find anything because when I repeat the same amount of wake time- it doesn't work. Here are a few of the days where he gave me a long nap... Maybe someone else can enlighten me??

Hi there, sorry no one has responded yet!  At this age, short naps are pretty typical.  Many babies will take 30-45 minute naps and there's virtually nothing you can do to prolong them.  It will end, that I can promise, if you just stick with your routine as it provides consistency.
If you are going to attempt any further tweaks to his routine, make sure you give a solid week/week and a half for each to see whether it is effective or not.  Constantly changing baby's 'A' time will only confuse him and make him more OT or UT.

Oh ok! That's good to know.. Thank you for your reply. It's nice to know that it's "normal". It's just hard when I talk to most of my friends and none of them experienced this. I just don't want it to become a habit  ??? How do we avoid that?!
