Personally I would stick with the exact plan, same nap and same BT regardless of WU time and trust this is Benji learning to self-regulate.  If by some chance he refuses to nap then do a 10.5h day, but otherwise, hold tight.
Totally agree, but also you can re-try for a nap 15 to 30 min later which would still be 'plan B' of a slightly later nap. Still 45 min, still same BT.
If he's doing longer nights that's because he is adjusting and self-regulating. You only want to change things again when that stops working. If he's extending his mornings, stick with it
Yes yes yes.

I am so pleased for you that he had a good night. This should allow him to have lots of fun, happiness and energy today :)
Enjoy your day with him :)

Thank you for your reassuring messages :)

It hasn't gone well though. As soon as he does a decent/normal night, things get out of whack.

First off, he couldn't settle for nap til 2pm. Then woke crying half way through. I re-settled.

Then at BT was seriously UT and took ages with lots of upset. Eventually he was asleep by 7.40pm.

In the last two weeks, he's had two days with just over 12hours sleep total. The following night (or two) have been horribly short as a result with EWs (9.5hrs and 8hr45).

What will I do if this pattern repeats itself tonight?

What time did he wake for the day yesterday hun?

Regardless of EW you stick to the 45 min nap at same time and same BT for now. If that catch up day is regularly leading to some v short nights the plan *may* need to change sometime soon but not today. Hope you can settle down and get some sleep x

I guess my question is when do I know if catch up day leading to short nights is regular and must change? Thought has happened before.
Am going to try to rest now he's asleep for now. We will know soon

Ok so his routine for the day was pretty good then, 13h day with a 45 min nap.  I do think you are well into the 1-0 but stick with the plan for today and i will consult my co-mods and come back to you before tomorrow xx

If it is a pattern then I can see we are well into the 1-0 but as people have said, can't go to nnd without a 7.30 wu so we are stuck.

Another 9.5hr night tonight. I just don't know what to do I'm exhausted and frightened of my spirited touchy screamy ot non sleeper.

I certainly wd be afraid to go to no nap on a 4.54 wu. Awful

Having the worst day.

Got home to find building site opposite and the white noise machine in Benjis room doesn't even touch it.

What will I do from a 4.54 wake up if he doesn't sleep?

Hugs Straffles. Fret not, I have had constant neighbour drilling here too. So, this is what you tell yourself, "if he does not sleep or short naps, then it is an opportunity to try a shorter nap that I otherwise would not have dared to!". If he does not nap or short naps, take it as an opportunity to test out a new routine.
