Too early for a 4 hour routine?!?!?!
« on: September 30, 2016, 13:45:59 pm »
My sweet dd is almost 10 wo and about a month ago she was diagnosed with a milk protein allergy. So she's been strictly bottle fed for about a month now. We've finally found the right milk and reflux medicine dosage. But she doesn't seem to want to eat after three hours, she'll take just an ounce or two. If I wait 4, then she'll take up to six. Her wake time is about 75 minutes. So is it too soon to go to 4 hours? She's still getting up once a night around four after the dreamfeed at 10.  Our schedule typically looks like this:

4am - Feed 4oz
7am - Feed 2-3oz (she seems totally uninterested in this fee)
8:15 - Nap
10am - Feed - 2-3 oz
11 - Nap (She always seems really sleepy during this wake time, as if i woke her too soon)
1 - feed 2-3oz
2:15/2:30 - Nap
4pm Feed - 4oz
5:30 Nap (short one)
6:!5 wake (she's super fussy throughout the evening
6:30 Feed 4 oz (She cries throughout the whole evening feed so I try to break it up with a bath)
7:15 sleep
10 pm- dreamfeed (I can normally only get 2-3oz in her before she falls asleep so deeply)

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!
Stephanie

Formula fed babies often need 4 hourly feeds sooner than breastfed babies, refluxers often do to - both my FF refluxers did. The only problem is they can't do the A times so you won't be able to do a true EASY until her A times catch up around the 4 month mark.

I would try the 4 hours, sometimes refluxers need smaller feeds more often so if she is uncomfortable or it makes the reflux worse so if it does go back to smaller feeds at 3 hours.

HTH!

So should I let her sleep until the next feed? Or wake her early so she doesn't sleep too much during the day? She's a pretty good napper right now. Even if she wakes early she goes back to sleep pretty easily. That does help. Thanks!

For some reason the reply I thought I had posted didn't. Sorry!

How are things now?
