FIRST TIME MOM - ?'s about babys sleeping habits
« on: August 12, 2006, 17:54:42 pm »
my son will be 6 wks on Monday and well i was wondering how his sleeping habits are suppose to be.  We usually start off our day around 9amish..if we dont have somewhere to go..he eats..and plays a bit..then starts to get sleepy...but it seems like i always have to 'put' him to sleep..and sometimes its sooo hard because it seems like hes fighting his sleep.he gets frustrated and start flailing his arms around everywhere..(even when hes swaddled). and so i have to calm his down my rocking him then he ifnally nods off..and then ill wait for about 20 mins and put him in his crib..then he kinda wakes up again. lol the only time i dont have to put his to sleep is when hes in his swing..should i let him cry it out in his crib till he sleeps? i dunno what to do.. and also at night..he still consistenly waking up every 3 hrs to eat..even after putting rice cereal in his bottle (he just got diagnosed with reflux)..i am pooped..and i would love a lil bit move then 3 hrs of sleep... what should i do?? any advice would help..

thanks

Jess

Hi,

Congrats on your new addition.

Your DS is still so new so don;t have too many expectations for him or YOU!

Do you have any of Tracy's books, are you familiar with the BW methods?

You say you begin your day at 9ish, are you breast feeding or bottle?  Could you post a 'typical' day for you?

It would help to start from there....

HI! im not all that familiar with the BW methods..but i di just order 'Secrets of the Baby Whisperer: How to Calm, Connect, and Communicate ' and am still waiting for it to come in.  I Formula feed my lil one.  a typical day is getting up at about 9, feed..change diaper..play for a while.. then TRY to put him to sleep but he is sooo fussy..and he fights his sleeping soo much that hes usually up until its time for his next feeding. then finally around 12ish i'll feed him..and ill put him in swing and then he'll knockout..and thats how it usually alternates every other feeding through-out the day..i just dont want to be dependent on his swing. but hte time night hits..ill feed him at about 8ish..and he'll be up for almost 3 hrs..and i would not be able to put him to sleep and he'll be sooo fussy..then ill feed him at 11..and put some extra rice cereal in there (he has reflux) hoping htat it will make him sleep longer..but no he will be wailing in about 2 1/2-3 hrs later.. maybe i just should be more patient. but any tips would help.
thanks!
