A big big big thank you to everyone who helped me over the last ten days.. Stacy, Yaya, Lucas Mum... sorry if i am leaving anyone out here.. I started weaning my DS Luca 15 weeks, cold turkey from his paci ten days ago, using shush pat and a teeny bit of pu pd. It was a week of total hell, followed by two days of relative calm, and then three days of really bad regression, at which point i was ready to throw in the towel and reach for the hidden dummy cache and now life is great! My DS puts himself to sleep, with a little help from his thumb, naps are great , except for late afternoon, cant quite nail the cat nap at five, but reckon that that is because he is spirited and after a long day he is over stimulated a little. I dont dream feed, but he either goes straight through from seven to seven or wakes once around two for a feed and then straight back to bed. The diff in his personality is amazing, he is such a happy little fella. To anyone out there considering prop weaning and sleep training, it is hellish, and they cry their little hearts out, but these methods do work, you just have to stick with it, and at the end of the day you are doing your LOs the biggest favour, you are teaching them the first step in independence. Watch out for the regression, it is nasty, esp apparently with little boys and strong willed ones, but just keep at it. Thanks again to everyone, this web site is amazing.
